Both my parents are British citizens I came t Britain in 1963 nine years old from the commonwealth country of Barbados and have lived in Britain now in my sixties can I apply for a British passport?

I have paid out a total of £357.00 to a solicitor and an advisory agency who I find to be extorting people because the rules of British citizen are unclear and subject to constant change before I am mugged again I know I am a British citizen but do not have proof I need to obtain proof such as a British passport. How do I proceed in this area?

    Hello

    Thank you for your enquiry.

If your parents were British citizens at the time of your birth then you would be British by law but you need the evidence to show this otherwise your case is problematic.

If your parents weren’t British citizens at the time of your birth then you would have the option to acquire British citizenship by registration as an adult.
